WHAT TO EXPECT AT WORSHIP
Visiting a new church can be intimidating. When you’re our guest at Long Beach Church, you will never be asked to stand up and introduce yourself, or do any other activity that makes you feel uncomfortable. We are just glad to have you join us!
Come as you are, dress is casual. We just want to connect with you on your terms. Our mission is to Help People Experience the Love of Jesus and Follow the Jesus Way. Our vision is to be a diverse community that is committed to loving God by loving people and each other. Sometimes that's easy, sometimes that's hard! But we believe no one should have to do life alone, so mostly, we will just be glad to meet you. We desire to be a place where everyone belongs, no matter what.
We want you to feel comfortable when you visit us for our worship experience, so here is a brief summary of what you can expect from a typical service with us, there are basically 3 main elements to our worship experience.
MUSIC
We usually sing a collection of contemporary Christian songs that center on God & Jesus. We have an acoustic style of music that is led by a Worship Leader. The words to the songs will be displayed on a screen for everyone to see. We want to give the opportunity for everyone to participate in the singing, but it is not a requirement. We want everyone to come and worship in a way that is comfortable. Singing or just listening and taking in the lyrics and music, either way, we want the focus to be on praising Jesus.
COMMUNION
Communion is the process followers of Jesus participate in weekly to remember what Jesus did for us when He stepped up and took the consequences of our sins, so we could receive the reward He earned. We eat a small piece of bread and drink a small cup of grape juice that represents Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross for us. It's not magic, it's a memorial, but it is a special time of reflection and connection for followers of Jesus. It is a time where followers of Jesus connect with God and tend to our spiritual relationship with Jesus and it's also a time where we connect with each other and reflect on how we are to love one another like Jesus loves us.
We will get up and go to one of three tables located around the Worship Center to engage in the Communion. You are not required to participate, but all are welcome.
SERMON
Our Pastor will give a talk, called a sermon, that will be centered on Jesus and the Bible. It is a way for us to listen and learn and be moved to be more like Jesus. The sermon will sometimes be funny, serious, new, old, intriguing, thought-provoking and sometimes too long, but the main goal will be for it to be easy to understand, relevant and centered on calling us to love God, love People and love Each Other better.
We will also pray, laugh, clap (hopefully on beat), but mostly, we want to give Jesus all the glory and try to be like Him in the way He embraced broken people (which is all of us) and love unconditionally. There is no judgement, we all have messed up and are in need of God's grace! So, if you are messy, broken, hurting, in need of some grace and mercy, GOOD, you will fit right in! We are all just trying to surrender to Jesus daily, so He can shape us to be a better reflection of Him...more of Jesus, less of me!
If all this sounds good to you, then we would love to see you soon! Either way, if there is a way we can help, serve, love or just chill with you through a tough time, please let us know. We want to be a place where you belong. A place where we love each other and let Jesus handle the rest!
